FAQs
What Are Your Admissions Procedures?
While Whiskers Resort is happy to accept all breeds and will not turn away unaltered pets, we do reserve the right to deny group play to any pet becoming too aggressive or dominant to safely interact with other pets. If your pet is unaltered, it is your responsibility to notify us of their cycle and when they are in season. We will take extra precautions during this time. Whiskers Resort and Pet Spa reserves the right to deny services to any pets that becomes overly aggressive with our staff.
What Vaccinations Are Required?
Our primary concern at Whiskers Resort is the happiness, health, and well-being of every one of our guests. The following vaccines are required to be current for all guests at Whiskers Resort & Pet Spa. We require that you contact your veterinarian and have them fax over current records before your pet’s visit. If we have not received updated vaccine history at the time of check in your pet will be placed in one of our isolation rooms until we receive proof of the vaccines. This is done for the safety of every pet in our facility.

Group Play
Here at Whiskers we have guests of every shape, size, color, and breed, walk through our doors and we are dedicated to making sure they all have the best stay possible. To ensure this, we take many steps to set all our guests up for success. Starting with our New Client Assessment. The New Client Assessment ensures that your pet will be a good fit for our facility, whether it's for boarding or daycare.
*The New Client Assessment is required for all new guests prior to boarding and daycare visits. It is available for scheduling Monday-Friday*
Play Profiles:
Play Profiles, now included in our New Client Assessment, are how we evaluate each guest to see how they play and interact with others. For some guests, this may be a couple sniffs and then just hanging out, for others it’s jumping right into play and not wanting to stop, and everything in between. After the Play Profile, we enter notes on their record detailing how it went and what type of group your dog would most enjoy. We then send you an update via phone call or text to let you know how they did.
Play Groups:
Every morning our kennel staff members write all of our dogs into play groups based on their personality and size. The quantity and size of our yards gives us the freedom to give every dog a personalized group. We strive for smaller playgroups for the dogs safety and enjoyment. Some are a little picky with their friends, and we don’t blame them. If your dog doesn’t do well with many dogs, matching up two best friends is our specialty. We will always try to set your dog up for success.
Our groups run twice daily and are broke up into two rotations. One in the morning and one in the afternoon. If you would prefer your dog gets a specific rotation, let us know while dropping off and we’ll do our best to accommodate a specific rotation. Times can vary depending on the weather.
Weather:
Michigan weather can be very unpredictable. We know that every-day won’t be 72 and sunny so we have back-up plans for all weather conditions. We keep a careful eye on our guests, and we start to bring dogs in if they seem too hot or cold. We want them to be enjoying themselves as much as they can. This includes shortening the length of playtime if needed. Here are our general guidelines for summer and winter weather.
Summer: When the real feel temperature hits 90, we shorten up our groups and stick to shaded and indoor yards.
Winter: When the real feel temperature drops to 30, we start using indoor yards for smaller dogs and breeds that don’t handle the cold well. When it drops to 20, we use our indoor yards only, which will limit the amount of playtime they get during the day.
